Professor Bettina Rulofs

Bettina is a Professor in the Sociology of Sport in the Department of Human and Social Sciences at the University of Wuppertal in Germany and associated member of the CCPS.

She has conducted research into child protection and the prevention of sexual violence in sport since many years. She is member of the National Working Group on Child Protection in Sport at the German Sport Youth and has led the research project “Safe Sport” in Germany aimed at preventing sexual violence in sport federations and clubs.

Together with Mike Hartill, she led the EU-project VOICE, focused on the empowerment of survivors of abuse in sport. She is currently also member of the EU-funded research project CASES (Child Abuse in Sport – European Statistics), which is led by Mike Hartill at Edge Hill University.
