Paul\ncurrently leads a number of modules across Social Work programmes and has a\nspecial interest in Mental Health Social Work. He\nalso has lead responsibility for involving service users and carers in social\nwork education at Edge Hill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paul is an Approved Mental\nHealth Professional (AMHP) and Best Interests Assessor (BIA). He has a\nprofessional social work qualification and MA in Social Work and is registered\nwith the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Paul also holds the Full\nPost Qualifying Award in Childcare Social Work (PQSW). Paul has substantial\nexperience of assessing people under the Mental Health Act and the practical\napplication of Mental Health Law. Paul has spent a considerable part of his\ncareer working in an out of hours setting in various Local Authorities across\nthe North West and South West of England where he worked in generic practice.\nPaul has substantial prior experience of practice education. He has direct\npractice experience of statutory Social Work in Child Protection (including\nundertaking complex child protection investigations in a multi-agency context),\nFostering and Adoption, Children with Disabilities, Mental Health and\ndischarging a range of statutory duties through Emergency Duty Social Work.&nbsp;&nbsp;Paul has delivered multi-agency Continuing\nProfessional Development events within a Local Safeguarding Children\u2019s Board\n(LSCB) setting.
