Exploring the well-being of professional academy footballers: Ups, downs, problems and solutions<\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
Speaker biography:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Jimmy is a Senior Lecturer in Sports Development, Management and Coaching in the Department of Sport and Physical Activity at Edge Hill and a member of the Centre for Child Protection and Safeguarding in Sport (CPSS). Jimmy\u2019s work focuses on the welfare and well-being of sports workers, coach education, and the development, implementation, and enactment of sport policy and programmes, ranging from community\/grassroots to participation and performance contexts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His research and consultancy has informed the development of policy and practice of community and professional sport organisations, including The Football Association\u2019s Charter Standard Programme for grassroots football clubs, The Football Association\u2019s coach education provision, The Football Association\u2019s Respect campaign and, The International Cricket Council of Europe\u2019s participation strategy. He is also a practicing professional academy football coach and holds the UEFA B license, the FA Youth Award, Futsal and talent identification qualifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jimmy\u2019s latest book, \u2018Referees, Match Officials and Abuse: Research and Implications for Policy<\/em>\u2019, was published by Routledge in 2021. Learn more about Jimmy’s research here.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
