Seminar abstract<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Bullying is one of the most common forms of maltreatment in sport, yet it is often also one of the most misunderstood. This presentation explores how we define bullying in the context of sport, the particular characteristics specific to bullying in sport, and how prevalent the problem is. It concludes by discussing evidence-based strategies that can be implemented to manage and prevent its occurrence in youth sport settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Dr<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Dr Miguel Nery <\/em>is a clinical and sport psychologist, psychodynamic psychotherapist, and professor of psychology. He is also Research Coordinator at the Faculty of Health and Sport Sciences at the Universidade Europeia, Lisbon, Portugal. His main research interests are human development, mental health, psychopathology, human aggression, play, and sport. He is author of the book \u2018Bullying in Youth Sports Training: New perspectives and practical strategies\u2019<\/em>\u00a0(with C.\u00a0Neto, A. Rosado and P. K. Smith, Routledge, 2020) and project manager of the Portuguese Government-funded projects\u00a0Cart\u00e3o Vermelho ao Bullying<\/em>\u00a0(Give the Red Card to Bullying) and\u00a0Desporto sem Bullying<\/em>\u00a0(Sport without Bullying), which aimed to prevent bullying in youth sport. Miguel is also a clinical psychologist in private practice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
