Mike is Professor of Sociology of Sport in the Department of History, Geography and Social Sciences and director of CPSS. He has conducted research into child sexual exploitation in sport since joining Edge Hill, working on a number of national and international projects aimed at preventing abuse of children in sport.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Melanie is Professor of Child Protection and Children\u2019s Rights in Sport in the Department of History, Geography and Social Sciences and director of CPSS. Her work is focused on children’s rights in sport, especially their right to a ‘voice’, and the policy and practice of safeguarding children from violence and abuse in sport.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Nick is Curriculum Manager of HE Sport and a lecturer in the sociology of sport at Loughborough College. His research focuses on safeguarding in sports culture and practice and approaches to successfully embedding safeguarding in sport.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Jimmy O\u2019Gorman is a senior lecturer in Sports Development, Management and Coaching and teaches on the BA (Hons) Sports Development, Management and Coaching, and the MSc Sport, Physical Activity and Mental Health programmes. His research focuses on the welfare and well-being of sports workers, sports welfare coach education, and involving children in sports policy development and research. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Jenny is Associate Professor in Education in the College of Arts, Law and Education at the University of Tasmania. Her research focuses on abuse, violence and prevention measures in sport, and trauma-informed practices and their application to sports contexts.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Saffron is a PhD candidate investigating the impact of workforce regulation on harm prevention in sport. Her PhD research, which is funded by CIMSPA (the lead organisation for sport and physical  activity workforce, is supervised by Prof Mel Lang, Dr Eleanor Peters (Criminology) and Dr Neil King (sports management).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Mark’s research focuses on the culture of grass-roots football clubs via an ethnographic study that includes observation of coaches and interviews with coaches and youth players. The project aims to explore how the coaching environment meets the expectations of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
