Edge Hill University and Crooked Dice Game Design studio<\/a> are set to adapt Bram Stoker\u2019s Dracula<\/em> into a new narrative-driven skirmish game of gothic horror.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Edge Hill and Crooked Dice will be working directly with Dacre Stoker, Bram Stoker\u2019s great-grandnephew, and Dr Chris McAuley of Stoker-McAuley Productions, to bring an authentic adaptation of Dracula<\/em> to the tabletop. 7TV: Dracula<\/em> will be part of the ever-expanding StokerVerse<\/em>, a transmedia storyworld growing out of the original vampire tale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7TV: Dracula<\/em> will be a faithful adaptation of Stoker\u2019s famous story. Based on the novel\u2019s characters, events, themes and chilling atmosphere, it will transform the battle against the Count into a fun and challenging gaming experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like earlier Edge Hill University-Crooked Dice collaborations, 7TV: Dracula<\/em> will be developed by a design team of undergraduate and postgraduate students from the Department of English, History and Creative Writing. Led Dr Peter Wright and Crooked Dice\u2019s Managing Director, Karl Perrotton, the team will be involved in all aspects of the game\u2019s research and development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Peter Wright said: \u201cThis is an excellent partnership for Edge Hill and Crooked Dice. Dracula is probably the most well-known gothic horror novel in the world, and for our students to have the opportunity to work on the first skirmish game adaption of the original story, with the author\u2019s descendant, is really exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Creative work will begin in October 2021 with the prototype game being playtested and demonstrated throughout 2022, the 125th<\/sup> anniversary of Dracula\u2019s <\/em>first publication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This exciting project heralds a year of\u00a0Dracula-<\/em>related events at Edge Hill University developed with\u00a0EHU Nineteen<\/a>,\u00a0the university\u2019s interdisciplinary research centre focussing on the long-nineteenth century.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students taking part in this programme are supported by the\u00a0Student Opportunity Fund<\/a>\u00a0which contributes financial support that helps undergraduates and postgraduates to take part in activities that enhance employability and develop transferable skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
