The Research Group in Spanish and Latin American Studies (ESAL) was founded at Edge Hill University in October 2021 by Katia Adimora under the sponsorship of the Institute for Social Responsibility (ISR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ESAL aim is to develop, enhance, and disseminate the research in all areas of Hispanic Studies, including but not limited to Spanish, Portuguese, and Latin American literature, language and linguistics, culture\/society, politics, history, and arts.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Research Group and its researchers comply with Edge Hill University\u2019 s Research Strategy 2021-2025 and Code of Practice for the Conduct of Research (RO-GOV-01) to carry out the research of excellence, integrity, cooperation, and respect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chile and the UK have enjoyed a longstanding history of diplomacy and economic ties founded on the pillars of democracy and human rights, the development of commerce and trade, international cooperation and cultural linkages. Chile Is the UK\u2019s 60th largest export market and the UK is one of the leading foreign investor countries in Chile. Over the past two decades relations between the UK and Chile have grown in strength with total trade in goods and services between both countries reaching \u00a31.6 billion towards the end of Q3 2022, an increase of 15.2% or \u00a3217 million from the previous year.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the UK\u2019s departure from the EU, the UK and the Republic of Chile signed a new Trade Agreement On 1st<\/sup> January 2021 to replace the EU-Chile Agreement, facilitate trade continuity and consolidate the solid relationship between both countries. The new bilateral agreement between The UK and Chile will form the starting point for future trade agreements thus helping to strengthen existing ties with Latin America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
