Could some of its recommendations&nbsp;for action be incorporated into Pendle&#8217;s Climate&nbsp;Emergency Action Plan?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The report and its recommendations&nbsp;states that freeing up land and restoring habitats including woodlands, peatlands, wetlands and seas, to enable the implementation of nature-based solutions will:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere much more cheaply than the (unproven and eye-wateringly expensive) engineered options<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Help us better adapt to climate change&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bring back wildlife, and all the free services (pollination, water and air purification, pest and disease control) that nature gifts us with&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create an abundance of new, green jobs and skills&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Safeguard the UK\u2019s food security; and in so doing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Give a much-needed boost to local communities and the economy&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s time for the UK Government and the devolved administrations to unleash the potential of nature-based solutions, now\u2014for people, for climate, and for&nbsp;Nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This report demonstrates how:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.edgehill.ac.uk\/lancscan\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/404\/2023\/08\/PineForest-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Close up a a pine tree sapling\" class=\"wp-image-378\" width=\"296\" height=\"197\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sites.edgehill.ac.uk\/lancscan\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/404\/2023\/08\/PineForest-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/sites.edgehill.ac.uk\/lancscan\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/404\/2023\/08\/PineForest-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sites.edgehill.ac.uk\/lancscan\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/404\/2023\/08\/PineForest-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sites.edgehill.ac.uk\/lancscan\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/404\/2023\/08\/PineForest-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/sites.edgehill.ac.uk\/lancscan\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/404\/2023\/08\/PineForest.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 296px) 100vw, 296px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1. A nature-rich UK will create a thriving and resilient economy, unlocking green prosperity for communities across the UK;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2. Nature-based solutions (NBS) remove carbon at a far lower cost than expensive, unproven and unworkable technologies, whilst protecting against climate impacts; and&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3.
