The Plastic Free Mersey (PFM) Project is a flagship citizen science and engagement project within the Mersey catchment to help reduce plastic pollution in the Mersey River and its tributaries. It is a collaboration between the plastics value chain, NGO’s, academic scientists and local communities. Trained volunteers have been collecting data for almost three years by using rigorous methods to quantify plastic litter and other litter items. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On behalf of Thames21 and the Mersey Rivers Trust, SIGN UP and become one of our volunteers to survey more tributaries within the Mersey catchment. It is a great opportunity for staff and students (and their friends and families) to take part in outdoors volunteering and contribute to a data set that has been used to advocate action and policies to deter and reduce littering around rivers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please\u00a0circulate this important message to your network of contacts\u00a0and email aidan@merseyrivers.org<\/a> <\/strong>for more information\u00a0if you are interested in\u00a0participating in\u00a0our\u00a0project. All\u00a0reasonable\u00a0travel expenses are paid,\u00a0if necessary,\u00a0to reach survey sites and all equipment (litter pick, hoop, plastic bags and gloves) are provided beforehand to volunteers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
