The purpose of the Linguistics Research Group is to showcase the interdisciplinary linguistics research currently being carried out at Edge Hill University, by both staff and students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This research includes (but is not limited to) applied linguistics, English historical linguistics, sociolinguistics\/studies of language contact, corpus linguistics and psycholinguistics. The group provides opportunities for researchers to talk through work in progress, promote their work, and foster networks that might lead to future collaborations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The group\u2019s primary knowledge exchange activity is the Linguistics Research Seminar Series. This online seminar aims for a minimum of four and a maximum of six speakers per academic year. The majority of these speakers are external. However, it is also a space for established academics as well as PhD researchers within the EHU English Language team and related disciplines to present on their completed or ongoing research projects and recent publications. Each speaker is allocated one hour, of which 20-30 mins is for the presentation itself and the remaining time is for questions\/discussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Linguistics Research Group membership includes anyone interested in language: linguists, students of linguistics and English language (including prospective, current, and former), academics and students (internal and external) in other disciplines that focus on language (e.g. Media, Law, Politics, Psychology), as well as prospective Edge Hill students and interested members of the public.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
