  • Trainees who are training to teach in the Further Education phase work towards a PGDE and are not recommended for QTS at the end of their course.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • They are however eligible for QTLS (Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills status) by amassing 100 teaching hours plus 8 formal observations throughout their placement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

    • Further Education trainees specialise in the teaching of Post-14 so teaching on their timetable should be predominantly post-16. Any Key Stage 4 content (e.g. GCSE re-sits) should be minimal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      • Further Education trainees have a curriculum benchmarked against the professional standards as set by the Education & Training Foundation (ETF)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • The ETF sets out 20 standards which cover Professional values and attributes; Professional knowledge and understanding, and Professional skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • The Further Education curriculum focuses on Post-14 education rather than specific subjects (e.g. Maths, English, Law etc).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
