General Student Manager

The General Student Manager is the primary student leader and manager of ‘Edgehog Radio and oversees the day-to-day operations of the station, its programming, and its business affairs. The General Manager should be a visionary leader and should be able to coordinate, lead, and motivate staff. The General Manager also recruits new members, helps to fill open positions, and ensures that all students who participate in the station’s activities are adequately trained by running/coordinating a training programme each semester for new members. They also maintain the Public File and compile all quarterly reports. The General Manager is appointed by and reports directly to the station’s advisor; this appointment lasts for one calendar year (July 1 – June 31) and may be renewed. 

General Requirements:

  • Enrolment in a course within the Department of English and Creative Arts, preferably in their second or third year.
  • Students selected to serve as General Student Manager will ideally have participated in ‘Edgehog Radio for at least one year prior to their appointment to this leadership role (after 2023-24 academic year).
Programming Lead

The Programming Lead of the station is responsible for the development, creation, and curation of all programmes for broadcast on ‘Edgehog Radio and ensures that all productions meet standards for quality, appropriateness, and tone. The Programming Lead is appointed by and reports directly to the station’s advisor and General Student Manager; this appointment lasts for one calendar year (July 1 – June 31) and may be renewed. The Programme Lead serves as General Student Manager in the current appointee’s absence.

General Requirements:

  • Enrolment in a course within the Department of English and Creative Arts, preferably in their second or third year.
  • Students selected to serve as Programming Lead will ideally have participated in ‘Edgehog Radio for at least one year prior to their appointment to this leadership role (after 2023-24 academic year). 
Production Lead

The Production Lead is the chief engineer of ‘Edgehog Radio and is responsible for managing all production activities for the station. Working with the General Student Manager, the Production Lead ensures that all content recorded and broadcasted is of professional quality and adheres to station standards. They also make sure all equipment is functioning and reports any issues to the General Student Manager in a timely manner. The Production Lead is appointed by and reports directly to the station’s advisor; this appointment lasts for one calendar year (July 1 – June 31) and may be renewed.

  • Enrolment in a course within the Department of English and Creative Arts, preferably in their second or third year within Music Production, Media Production, or closely-related fields.
  • Students selected to serve as Production Lead will ideally have participated in ‘Edgehog Radio for at least one year prior to their appointment to this leadership role (after 2023-24 academic year). 
Music Lead

The Music Lead oversees the station’s music library and subscriptions to music services. They work with on-air talent and producers to find and select music appropriate for each programme. The Music Lead works closely with the Production Lead, Programming Lead, and the General Student Manager to ensure music programming is appropriate and meets the required standards for broadcast, and to help shape the general tone of the station. The Music Lead also works with the General Student Manager to network with representatives from the music industry professionals to identify current trends in music and build relationships with musicians looking to showcase their music on our station.

  • Enrolment in a course within the Department of English and Creative Arts, preferably in their second or third year within Music Production, Media Production, or closely-related fields.
  • Students selected to serve as Music Lead will ideally have participated in ‘Edgehog Radio for at least one year prior to their appointment to this leadership role (after 2023-24 academic year). 
Public Relations Lead

The Public Relations Lead is responsible for coordinating all promotional events and activities for ‘Edgehog Radio and ensures that all content produced by the station is accurate and reflects the station and Edge Hill University in the best possible light.

General Requirements:

  • Enrolment in a course within the Department of English and Creative Arts or the Business School, preferably in their second or third year.
  • Students selected to serve as Public Relations Lead will ideally have participated in ‘Edgehog Radio for at least one year prior to their appointment to this leadership role (after 2023-24 academic year).
