\u2018Edgehog radio station is Edge Hill University\u2019s new student-run project, within the Department of Creative Arts. The station plays throughout the day via a web player found at edgehill.ac.uk\/edgehogradio<\/a><\/strong>. If you\u2019re on campus you will hear us playing in the Creative Edge building! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our first regular show Pateman Plays<\/em> is a weekly segment, which will have it’s own blog post to follow. Make sure to tune in every Tuesday 2-4pm, or listen to the repeat on Thursdays at 2-4pm, exclusively on ‘Edgehog Radio!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each year the station will put together a team of students to run the station and create exclusive shows! Meet this year\u2019s team:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volunteer Roles<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Volunteer roles are recruited throughout the year, so if you fancy getting involved please fill in the form linked here<\/a>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On-air Talent<\/strong> presents content on \u2018Edgehog Radio; although this content will recorded when the station first launches, we hope to create opportunities for live on-air talent in the near future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Content Producers<\/strong> write and develop written content for \u2018Edgehog Radio\u2019s audio programming (both parts of shows or completely new shows). This can include talk-only formats, music formats, and podcasts broadcast as radio programming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recorded Content Engineers<\/strong> are responsible for working with on-air talent and content producers to create high-quality recordings for all shows broadcast on \u2018Edgehog Radio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Live Engineers \/ Board Operators<\/strong> run the soundboard in the radio station during live broadcasts to ensure quality audio and to maintain a clear audio signal. [THIS POSITION IS NOT YET AVAILABLE, but if you express interest on the application form, we will contact you when this opportunity is available].<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Music Scouts<\/strong> work with the Music Lead to search for new music to broadcast on \u2018Edgehog Radio. This ordinarily entails searching through available song libraries and helping content producers to find appropriate musical material for various programmes; this could also include finding local musicians whose music could be featured on \u2018Edgehog Radio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Graphic Designers<\/strong> create relevant graphic content for the \u2018Edgehog Radio website and social media platforms, for flyers and other print media, and for giveaways, swag, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Social Media Content Producers<\/strong> work to create content that will be featured on the \u2018Edgehog Radio social media platforms; they also maintain these platforms and work to increase engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Street Team \/ Events Team<\/strong> work to increase listenership and student engagement both at special events they produce and at already scheduled campus events, such as Welcome Week, Open Days, College Radio Day celebration, university events, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leadership Roles<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Students selected to serve in Leadership Roles will ideally have participated in \u2018Edgehog Radio for at least one year prior to their appointment to this leadership role (after the 2023-24 academic year). The roles last for one calendar year, they have been filled for the current academic year of 2023-2024, but will be open again for the next academic year in September 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The General Student Manager<\/strong> is the primary student leader and manager of \u2018Edgehog Radio and oversees the day-to-day operations of the station, its programming, and its business affairs. The General Manager should be a visionary leader and should be able to coordinate, lead, and motivate staff. The General Manager also recruits new members, helps to fill open positions, and ensures that all students who participate in the station\u2019s activities are adequately trained by running\/coordinating a training programme each semester for new members. They also maintain the Public File and compile all quarterly reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Programming Lead<\/strong> of the station is responsible for the development, creation, and curation of all programmes for broadcast on \u2018Edgehog Radio and ensures that all productions meet standards for quality, appropriateness, and tone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Production Lead<\/strong> is the chief engineer of \u2018Edgehog Radio and is responsible for managing all production activities for the station. Working with the General Student Manager, the Production Lead ensures that all content recorded and broadcasted is of professional quality and adheres to station standards. They also make sure all equipment is functioning and reports any issues to the General Student Manager in a timely manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Music Lead<\/strong> oversees the station\u2019s music library and subscriptions to music services. They work with on-air talent and producers to find and select music appropriate for each programme. The Music Lead works closely with the Production Lead, Programming Lead, and the General Student Manager to ensure music programming is appropriate and meets the required standards for broadcast, and to help shape the general tone of the station. The Music Lead also works with the General Student Manager to network with representatives from the music industry professionals to identify current trends in music and build relationships with musicians looking to showcase their music on our station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Public Relations Lead<\/strong> is responsible for coordinating all promotional events and activities for \u2018Edgehog Radio and ensures that all content produced by the station is accurate and reflects the station and Edge Hill University in the best possible light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
