We helped celebrate Edge Hill University’s 90 years at Ormskirk!
On Saturday 22 June 2024, Helen, Dee and I (Alyson) ensured Research Catalyst played an important part in the activities celebrating Edge Hill’s 90 years at its Ormskirk campus. Our stall of archival material and objects also included an amazing film constructed by Helen (Professor Helen Newall) which brought archival images of Edge Hill and its students to life, and to music! Throughout the very busy day we spoke to lots of students who had completed their studies with us in the 1950s and 1960s and every decade in between right up into the 2020s.
Len Colinson was one of the very first men who studied at Edge Hill in 1959.
Gillian and Rachael told us that three generations of their family had studied at Edge Hill to become teachers. Gillian did teacher training in 1958-1960, Rachael a BSC QTS (qualified teacher status) in 1990-1994, and her nephew Vincent had recently (2022-2023) completed his PGCE early years.

We were also very grateful to all those who brought with them precious stories, memories, materials, and objects, some of which will be available in our archive for future generations to research and enjoy. Thank you! We hope everyone had a fabulous day!
