Can you help us solve the ‘Rockets’ mystery?
From the earliest years of Edge Hill College in 1885 up to the 1950s second year students helped and looked after the incoming first year students. At the beginning of term the second years put on a welcome concert or party for the new students and for all the college staff. The party usually included dancing, short plays, singing, comedy sketches and Rockets. But what were these Rockets? And how did those students give ‘our customary rockets for College, Principal and staff’? Can you see it?
