Shaping the Next Generation of Mentally Healthier Schools
The mental health of children and young people is a growing public health concern, with schools increasingly recognised as critical environments for early intervention, prevention, and promotion of psychological wellbeing.
By positioning mental health as a shared responsibility and aligning educational goals with public health principles, our ambition is to create sustainable, equitable, and resilient learning environments that supports the holistic development of all students.
This presentation explores how Wigan Council and its partners are taking a whole system public health approach to shaping the next generation of mentally healthier schools by building on the solid foundations of Healthy Schools and Emotionally Friendly Schools programmes.
