This workshop will share learning from my Churchill Fellowship<\/a>, exploring how schools in Australia and the USA are building whole-school approaches to support mental health and wellbeing. Rather than focusing solely on reacting to crises, the session explores upstream strategies that help create school environments where all young people feel safe, connected, and supported – every day, by every adult in the building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Drawing on international insights and my own experience of teaching in a highly deprived UK community, the session introduces key areas with the potential to transform school culture: leadership that prioritises wellbeing; mental health literacy for staff and pupils; behaviour policies that protect dignity; strong relationships and peer belonging; and ensuring every child has at least one trusted adult in school. These strategies are grounded in practice and evidence, with a focus on prevention, inclusion, and early support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The workshop will be interactive but emotionally safe. Participants will reflect on what is already happening in their own settings, explore one strategy in more depth, and leave with practical ideas to develop further.
