Michael Richards

Michael is really passionate about promoting the voices of the most marginalised in his research. This stems from working with various marginalised groups before he came into academia, especially in Manchester with homeless young people, people with disabilities and offenders. Michael was also keen to work with people using visual and creative methods such as through photography, poetry and art. Michael feels that research and the discipline of psychology can be a force for good and Michael’s PhD thesis that involved working with men with learning disabilities using visual methods was a way to promote voices of disabled people, as a way to challenge the disablist culture that disabled people face.
