North West Providers Statement

Thank you for your continued Partnership and commitment to Edge Hill University Initial Teacher Education.  As we move towards 2024 there is a changing landscape in Initial Teacher Education and a marked increase in the commitment of the role and training of Mentors. This academic year we have instigated a step change, in consultation with our Partnership Strategic Board which you will be aware was incorporated into our Partnership agreement for this 2023-24 period. This has entailed a commitment  to a three step Mentor training approach, which supports the transition and acknowledges the commitment towards 2024 expectations.

We are mindful of the manageability for all our Partners and mentors, so we have been working in consultation with our Mentor working party Groups and Strategic Boards here at Edge Hill to find a model to support everyone.

We will continue to keep you updated as we adapt and respond to the policy developments and mentor funding reforms through our newsletters, websites, and partnership agreements. As part of our communication strategy there will be Headteacher briefings from January 2024 by which time we hope further funding guidance has been released by the DfE.
