Jenny is an Associate Professor in Education in the College of Arts, Law, and Education at University of Tasmania in Australia.

As a former national representative swimmer, she was subjected to many types of athlete maltreatment (e.g. psychological, non-contact physical abuse, and sexual assault). The legacy of this abuse still affects her in the present day. Over the last 14 years, she has dedicated her research into the areas of:

  • athlete maltreatment
  • abuse education
  • non-sexualised forms of abuse
  • normalisation of abuse
  • the legacy of abuse
  • using self-injury as a way of managing abuse.

Together with CPSS Assistant Director Melanie Lang and colleagues Chris Zehntner (Australia) and Kerry McGannon (Canada), Jenny led, an IOC-funded research project entitled Athlete-and Coach-led education for teaching about abuse and neglect: Researching the process, experiences, and outcomes.
