Webinar Abstract

This session explored the increasing prevalence of adverse childhood experiences, toxic stress and trauma following the covid-19 pandemic and the impact this may have on children and young people’s development. It also considered how trauma might manifest in sport and physical activity spaces and the implications of this for sport coaches. Drawing on recent research it used the principles of trauma-aware pedagogies as a reflective tool to identify strategies that could help to ameliorate the effects of trauma and create safe spaces for (all) children and young people within youth sport contexts.
