Dr Chalermpol Chamchan, leader of WP6, leads the 3rd set of Workshops at the project’s two study sites:  Nakhon Si Thammarat Province and Krabi Province. The purpose of the workshops was to share and disseminate key findings of Work Packages 1-5 with to the local in order to build/strengthen their awareness towards coastal vulnerabilities and needs for preparation.

The participants included representatives from the Subdistrict Administrative Office and others local governmental organisations, community leaders, local civil society groups or networks, general working-age population, and high-school students. The workshop at Saladaan Subdistrict, Koh-Lanta, Krabi has been rescheduled to August 2021 due to an unexpected event related to COVID-19 pandemic.

The 3rd workshops were run as World Café events to facilitate small-group dialogue between the research team and each group of participants. There were 5 cafés in each workshop:

Café 1: Disaster risk areas (with findings from WP1+2)

Café 2: Coastal vulnerability map (with findings from WP4)

Café 3: Readiness and resilience of the community (with findings from WP3)

Café 4: Governance and vulnerability management (with findings from WP5)

Café 5: Safe and strong community in dreams

In each café, findings and information from the research project were communicated to the participants followed by Q&A, opinion-sharing and discussing dialogue within the group. Each participant was rotated to attend all 5 cafés during the workshop.
